President Donald Trump visited the Lincoln Memorial on Monday to showcase completed repairs to the Reflecting Pool. He used the event to deliver his final campaign remarks before voters head to the polls on Tuesday for the 2026 midterm elections.

The Interior Department spent several months completing the maintenance work. During his address, the President claimed vandalism had been a factor in the pool's condition. He stated, "The people from Interior have been incredible. And the pool is now better and more beautiful than it’s ever been before. And we’re very proud of it."

This appearance marked the end of a campaign that included nearly 30 rallies. Control of Congress is the primary stake in the upcoming vote. Trump described the election as the most important midterm in American history.

He criticized the opposition, saying, "The Democrat Party is nominated in the most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in American history. These are the most dangerous candidates ever put up."

Voters currently cite the high cost of living as their top concern in this cycle. The President did not address that specific issue during his remarks. Instead, he described the U.S. economy as strong and resilient.

Historically, the party in power loses seats during midterm elections. Republicans currently hold a narrow majority. Recent polling data indicates a strong performance is expected for Democrats in the 2026 race.
