A doctor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City has developed a treatment he calls better than blood for patients suffering from severe blood loss. The approach uses ingredients commonly found in a grocery store rather than donated human plasma.

The physician and research scientist designed the therapy to address hemorrhagic shock. This condition occurs when a person loses blood rapidly due to severe trauma. Common causes include car crashes and gunshot wounds. Current medical standards rely on blood transfusions to stabilize these patients.

The doctor presented the findings on InvestigateTV+. He described the new method as a potential alternative to standard transfusion procedures. Some members of the medical community view the discovery as a way to ease existing blood shortages.

The segment also featured a Virginia nonprofit known as Boxes of Basics. Founder Sarah Tyndall started the organization in 2018. Volunteers at the group pack personalized boxes of clothing and other items for children who lack access to proper garments.

Since its founding, more than 1,000 volunteers have assembled care packages for over 8,500 children across Virginia. The items are customized to meet the specific needs of each recipient.

Another segment highlighted brothers Bobby and Lance Snyder. The pair has worked for American Airlines at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Together, they have accumulated eight decades of service at the airline's second-largest hub.

The Snyder brothers focus on ensuring planes arrive and depart safely and on time. Their long-term commitment to the job has influenced their younger co-workers on the tarmac.
