ISG, an employee-owned firm, recorded 1,291 volunteer hours during its 2025 Impact Day, according to a report released for Employee Ownership Month. The company highlighted this figure alongside broader financial data to illustrate the structure of its Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP.
The Ohio/Kentucky Chapter of The ESOP Association lists ISG among more than 230 ESOP companies and professional service providers in the region. The association states that these firms share a common ownership mindset, though each shapes it uniquely. For ISG, this mindset is defined by specific operational metrics and cultural benchmarks.
Since 2020, ISG has spent more than $2.4 million on corporate sponsorships and charitable contributions. The firm also maintains the ISG Impact Fund, which matches employee donations of up to $250 annually. These financial commitments are part of a strategy to link individual contributions to the organization's overall success.
Employee owners at ISG describe their work culture as accountable and collaborative. The company reports that its staff operates with an "All-In" mentality, supported by an in-house performance coaching team. ISG attributes its 2025 ranking in the ENR Top 500 list to this shared responsibility for outcomes.
Staff satisfaction is measured through industry rankings. ISG placed 25th on the 2025 Zweig Best Firm to Work For list. The firm uses this ranking as a benchmark for productivity and morale, aiming to ensure that employees understand how their roles contribute to organizational goals.
During October, which is designated as Employee Ownership Month, ISG and other firms share information about the benefits of shared stakes in company success. The ESOP provides a formal structure for this ownership, but the firm emphasizes that the culture extends beyond the retirement benefit itself.
ISG encourages other firms to build similar cultures by connecting employees to the bigger picture, creating opportunities for participation, and making recognition a standard practice. The firm suggests methods such as firmwide presentations on financials and educational activities during lunch or happy hours to expand employee understanding of firm performance.
