Residents of Voronezh heard explosions and the sound of air defense units firing for more than an hour during the night of October 25 and 26, 2026. The city was covered in smoke throughout the engagement. Local residents noted that no formal air raid warning was issued before the strikes began.

Aleksandr Gusev, the Governor of Voronezh Oblast, told Russian media outlet Interfax that air defense units intercepted 113 drones. He broke down the total by stating that more than 70 drones were shot down directly over the city. The remaining intercepts occurred in the wider urban area and several districts of the oblast.

Gusev confirmed that fires broke out at several industrial businesses. He described the incidents as occurring without major consequences. This account contrasts with reports from Ukrainian OSINT channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+. Those channels identified two primary targets: the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant and the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, known as VASO.

Voronezhsintezkauchuk is part of the Sibur group. It produces synthetic rubbers and polymer materials. VASO operates within the Ilyushin Aviation Complex division of the United Aircraft Corporation. The facility manufactures aviation components and builds the Ilyushin Il-96 jet airliner.

Gusev reported that fires also started in a business center, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative. He stated that damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city. This indicates the widespread impact of debris and blast effects.

Russian media outlet Astra provided specific location data for the impacts. It reported a drone hit on the Galereya Chizhova business center at 35A Koltsovskaya Street. The publication captured video of that explosion. Astra also identified explosion sites near residential buildings at 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street based on visual analysis.

Further damage was documented at the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street. A car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street saw at least ten cars catch fire. Local authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage to public and private property.
