Auburn Hills Woman in Critical Condition After Pickup Truck Collision

A 66-year-old Auburn Hills woman is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a busy intersection Wednesday evening. Police reported the woman suffered life-threatening injuries when the vehicle hit her on Walton Boulevard.

Auburn Hills police and fire crews arrived at the scene at approximately 6:45 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate the woman was crossing at the intersection with Dexter Road when the pickup truck turned from Dexter onto westbound Walton Boulevard. The area of Walton Boulevard has five lanes and is lined with residential neighborhoods. Sunset had occurred just before 6:30 p.m.

The driver, another Auburn Hills resident, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team, which includes detectives from multiple communities, is leading the inquiry. Police asked witnesses to call the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9460.

A second pedestrian crash involving a pickup truck occurred more than an hour later in Farmington. A 15-year-old boy was struck while crossing Orchard Lake Road at Shiawassee Street in a marked crosswalk. The driver stopped and is cooperating with the Farmington Public Safety Department.

The boy was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. The Auburn Hills woman remained in critical condition as of Thursday morning.
